Project Explanation

Biogen hired me to work as an Extended Realities Application Developer. In my role as an ERAD, I was responsible for using complex models of human biosystems, and adding interactability to them. Users could point at various parts of the body within a 3D space, see their name, and turn various layers on and off through tags.

Before I joined the team, the various simulations actually entirely lacked any point-to-select functionality, requiring the user to physically put their hands "inside" the model. I made a modular and resuable laser-pointer prefab which my supervisors ended up implementing into lots of other projects.

I was also responsible for creating lots of smaller-scale simulations. I created a room with variable darkness, and various objects of different luminosity scattered about as part of a presentation for the head of another company that specializes in vision. I also made some 3D animations to demonstrate how various Biogen products might be used.

My Role

Extended Realities Application Developer

> Created 3D virtual reality models of human biosystems.

> Added interactability and tags to the parts of these human models.

> Created laser-pointer system to intuitively select, control, and manipulate simulations.

> Programmed for various virtual reality headsets in addition to virtual reality room technologies.

> Adapted platform-specific simulation code for compatibility with other platforms.
